Providing students at Churchville Elementary School with weekend meals since 2011
Throughout the school year, participating children receive a weekly food bag that includes items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with kid-friendly snacks, to enjoy at home over the weekend. This program is open to all students at Churchville Elementary School, and no "proof of need" is required to participate. To ensure each family's privacy, we do not keep a record of the students who participate in this program.
Since 2011, we estimate that Katie's Snacks has served thousands of children, ranging from 30 students per week to 100 students per week. These numbers reflect that there is very much a need for this program in our community, and your generous support ensures that we are able to meet the ongoing demand to provide supplemental nutrition for Churchville youth.

In addition to local congregations, we are also grateful to the Churchville Lion’s Club for their continuous support of Katie's Snacks over the years, as they have been an integral part of raising funds and packing food bags.

How to sign up for Katie's Snacks
If you are interested in signing up your child/children for this program, please contact the Churchville Elementary School principal at 540-337-6036 so that you can sign the permission slip. Then, before heading home each Friday, school staff will provide your child with their very own food bag from Katie's Snacks.

How to give
Members from St. Peter's Lutheran Church, along with local congregations and the Churchville Lion's Club, volunteer to package and deliver the food bags to the Churchville Elementary School each Friday. Food items are purchased with donations from the community, and your tax-deductible gift is deeply appreciated. To give, you may write a check to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, PO Box 303, Churchville, VA 24421. Please include “Katie’s Snacks” in the memo.

How to donate
Another way to support Katie's Snacks is to purchase food items yourself and deliver them to St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Please make sure that items are not expired before donating. Suggested items are listed below, and if you would like to learn more about our current food needs and/or to drop off items, please coordinate with Susan Vass by phone at 540-290-4374 or email at vass.susan@gmail.com
